PLAYERS
Gin Rummy is for 2–4 players; each plays solo. Our online default is 2-player.

TURN ACTIONS
1. Drawing
Start your turn by drawing one card: either from the face-down stock or the top of the discard pile.

2. Building Melds (kept hidden)
Form melds in your hand: sets (3–4 of a kind) or runs (3+ in sequence, same suit). Keep melds hidden until the round ends. Aim to reduce “deadwood” (unmatched cards).

3. Discarding
End your turn by discarding one card face up. If you drew from the discard pile this turn, you cannot discard that same card.

Notes:
- Card ranks high-to-low: K, Q, J, 10–2, A. Ace is low (can go A-2-3 but never next to K).
- Organize your hand by suit or rank to spot melds quickly.

ROUND SCORE
Ending the round:
- Knock: End the round if your deadwood is 10 points or less; opponent may lay off onto your melds.
- Gin: All 10 cards are melded (no deadwood). Reveal immediately.
- Big Gin: After drawing, all 11 cards meld; declare without discarding.
- Undercut: If the defender’s deadwood is equal to or less than the knocker’s after layoff, the defender scores the difference plus a bonus.
- Draw: No points awarded.

Card values: A=1; 2–10 = face value; J/Q/K=10.

Scoring:
- After a Knock: Knocker scores the deadwood difference after layoff.
- Gin: 25 points + opponent’s deadwood.
- Big Gin: 31 points + opponent’s deadwood.

SESSION SCORE
First to 100 points wins the game.
