In one game you can win or lose from 1 point to 32 rating points.

With equal opponents, the points you win or lose will be roughly equal. Example: if the rating of all players in a given game is the same, then the maximum you can gain or lose is 16 points from your rating points.

In the event that the system makes a game between less equal players, the player with a higher rating is expected to have a greater chance of winning. In this situation, if the player with a higher rating loses, then he loses more points and accordingly wins less points, since he played against an easier opponent.

Conversely, if a lower-rated player beats a higher-rated player, they gain more points and lose fewer points because they played against a more difficult opponent.
